TCIS High School and Administration Building
Taejon Christian International School
This 300-student high school and administration building comprise the first phase of a 10-year master plan to modernize the TCIS campus. The building provides a new front door and a new image for the campus, while adding administrative offices, 16 general classrooms, and 4 science labs. A grand exterior staircase links the new building with the existing campus while creating a special place for informal seating and large group gatherings.
Sustainability was an integral part of the design, which included sunscreens for south-facing windows to reduce solar heat gain and glare, as well as natural ventilation and daylighting of all classroom and major spaces. The school is designed to meet advanced standards for sustainability and energy efficiency and to accommodate progressive methods of western education.
