Oregon Jewish Museum
The Oregon Jewish Museum is a growing presence in the Portland community, with an expanding collection and extensive outreach efforts. Seeking a larger space to accommodate its growth, the museum board brought in DECA to help them search for a new home. Over a period of several years, the firm performed feasibility and due diligence studies on a myriad of potential sites until they found the perfect building in a former movie production studio.
Having worked closely with the board on program development and exploration of possible new building sites, DECA also then designed a comprehensive renovation and adaptation of the studio into a modern museum. The renovated building houses a gallery space, the museum’s archives, and offices for the Oregon Jewish Museum and the Oregon Holocaust Resource Center.
