Lincoln Restaurant

Located in a remodeled industrial building in a fast-growing area of Portland, this 3,100 square-foot restaurant includes a dining area and two kitchens, with the second kitchen used for catering. The owners of the restaurant describe their menu as American cuisine that is refined, but also simple and unpretentious. DECA worked with the owners to develop an image for the restaurant that interwove contrasting themes of the rawness of the existing structure and more refined casework.

The building’s interior was sand-blasted and left exposed, as was the concrete floor. A thick, sculptural wood wall separates the kitchen and dining areas, giving form and scale to the room while maintaining a degree of openness. The bar’s informal character complements the elegant dining area. High-backed banquettes create subtle divisions in the room, producing varying degrees of intimacy. They are move-able, to allow flexibility to rearrange the room for different occasions.

“Despite maintaining a classically casual Portland vibe (cement floors and open beams are a given), the overall result is impressive.”
