In September 2008, a group of modern dancers, musicians, architects, landscape architects, and artists joined together to pay tribute through dance and music to Lawrence and Anna Halprin. Lawrence Halprin designed the chain of incredible fountains in Portland, Oregon, and his wife Anna was a pioneer of modern dance. The event, called “City Dance,” was part of the annual Time-Based Art Festival. DECA’s staff, in collaboration with Terrazign, an industrial design firm, donated their time to design and build a series of blue sail-like backdrops for the performance.
